What an inspiring two days!
Our first-ever 快撸视频 Student Senate Summit residential took place last week, and we are buzzing with the energy and excitement it created. We were hosted by the brilliant University of Worcester, whose amazing facilities provided the perfect backdrop for our students to shine.
The summit was opened by Mrs S R Lanckham, our Executive School Improvement Lead for Secondary, and expertly led by Craig Mortelmans, Assistant Head at Windsor High School and Sixth Form. 80 students from across our secondary schools came together with one key mission: to explore and re-evaluate the WAT Pledge.
The workshops were fantastic. Students reflected on their own Pledge journeys before taking on a creative challenge to design a "2025 Pledge" they would love to see. On day two, they reimagined the pledge for today's world, considering important themes like sustainability and digital citizenship. It was incredible to see them prepare and present powerful two-minute pitches on why their ideas would have a positive impact on fellow students.
Mr Lanckham, who opened the event, said, "Seeing our students lead these discussions with such passion and intelligence was incredible. The University of Worcester was the perfect setting to inspire them, and this summit is a perfect example of how we unlock personal potential, by giving students a real voice in shaping their own experiences."
It wasn't all work, of course! The summit was packed with amazing activities that built friendships and teamwork. After the workshops on day one, students were taken to the university's Lakeside Campus for an afternoon of adventure. The fun continued with an evening BBQ and some social time for our students and staff in the halls of residence on campus. The event ended with a lovely Recommitment Ceremony, where students wrote a message to their future selves about how they will embrace the pledge.
Craig Mortelmans, who led the summit, said: "The energy over the last two days was amazing. The students weren't just participating; they were leading. The quality of their pitches and ideas for the Pledge was outstanding. They are a credit to our Trust, and I must thank the University of Worcester for being such fantastic hosts."
A huge thank you to all the staff and Personal Potential Leads from across the Trust who helped make this event so special.
So, what happens next? The ideas from our students will now be taken forward. A new Student Advisory Board will be created, bringing together students from the summit to help further develop the new WAT Pledge, which will be launched later this year.
And there鈥檚 more to come! We had a film crew capturing all the action, you can see the short film below, it really captures the energy of the two days!
